Frequently Asked Questions.
How does therapy typically go?
Our first sessions will focus on getting to know each other. I will ask questions to get clarity on who you are, what is most important to address in sessions with me, and your background. We will prioritize your goals and how to achieve those goals.
Once that is established, we will get into the deeper work and work at the pace that is comfortable for you. We will not only process your thoughts and feelings, but also establish concrete tools and skills to address the behaviors that are impacting your daily life.
Who do I work with?
I primarily work with parents who are going through the family development journey, from fertility to postpartum and even into early childhood development.
I work with a range of issues within that topic, such as stress and anxiety around fertility and pregnancy, birth trauma, postpartum depression and anxiety, transitioning back to work after leave, parenting and child behavior struggles, and attachment. I work with all types of families and parents.
While this is my main focus, I can work with a variety of issues. If we are a good fit and your concerns are within my scope of practice, we can still engage in therapy together!
What makes my practice different?
While most perinatal professionals specialize in the first year or specific specialities within that period, I offer long-term continuity of care. I continue to work with my clients as their children grow from infant to toddlerhood and preschool years.
This means that you don’t have to find a new therapist as new parenting challenges arise, such as tantrums, separation anxiety, social-emotional development, aggression, compliance, and transitions.
What do I charge for sessions? Do you take insurance?
At this time, I only accept Lyra. Therapy is an investment. My individual sessions are $150 per session, which can be paid through a debit or credit card or with your HSA/FSA cards. I can also provide superbills if you wish to obtain reimbursement from your insurance.
I am partnered with Thrizer to help clients access their out-of-network benefits. If you are unsure about your out-of-network benefits, we can check prior to starting services what the cost would be for you.
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
How do I get started?
I offer free 15-minute phone consultations before beginning services to help make sure clients feel like I am a good fit for their needs and that I feel like I am a good fit for them. You can click here to check my calendar to schedule a time that is convenient for you. From there, you can decide to move forward to schedule a therapy session if you and I decide that we would be a good fit.
What is the intake process like?
Once we agree to move forward in starting services and schedule an intake session, you will receive an email to create a profile on my platform. This will include signing consent forms, reviewing my practice policies, completing assessments, and completing my intake questionnaire. You will also be asked to put a card on file and sign up for autopay. This is required in order to schedule your first session. Once that is all complete, I will send you an email with a link to our appointment. This email will also include a link to the video platform we will be using during our session.
Our first session will include reviewing your intake questionnaire and any other important information on your concerns, background, family history, and any additional information you think I will need to better support you. We will also go over confidentiality, practice policies, and any other questions you may have.
